Equestrian insurance broker rebrands to reflect national status

  • Equestrian insurance company South Essex Insurance Brokers changed its name to SEIB Insurance Brokers on 1 January 2015 to reflect the company’s national status.

“We have frequently had our name referred to in the short form of SEIB, and it is a natural progression to formalise this in our brand to reflect our position nationally in the market,” said Barry Fehler, the company’s founder and CEO.

He started the company from his parent’s home in 1963 and the company is now in the top 75 brokers in the UK.

“SEIB has grown steadily over the 50 years it has been in business and has nationwide clients in a number of niche business sectors,” said Fehler.

The company provides the member benefits for the British Horse Society, World Horse Welfare, British Showjumping and Arab Horse Society and also insures Redwings.

It is the preferred equine supplier for the British Insurance Brokers Association and offers a range of products through nationwide intermediaries.

Cover is available for horses, veterinary fees, equestrian business, horseboxes and trailers and equestrian liability.

SEIB is owned by specialist insurance group Ecclesiastical, which is owned by a registered charity.

Last year the group set itself an ambitious goal of giving £50m to charity over the next three years.

In 2014 it donated £16.5m from its profits to charity and SEIB will play a “key role” in Ecclesiastical reaching its target.

SEIB sponsor different charities from year to year including the Animal Health Trust where there is a donation from each policy for the Grass Sickness Fund.

In addition to its equestrian insurance products, SEIB specialises in providing cover for private hire, rural taxis and funeral directors.
