Charlotte Dujardin buys two British-bred dressage foals

  • World number 1 dressage rider Charlotte Dujardin has been investing in some future horse power.

She has bought two British-bred foals from Mount St John stud in Yorkshire.

The first is MSJ Charmer, a bright bay colt (above) by the Dutch stallion Charmeur (Florencio/Jazz) out of the Danone/Royal Diamond mare Dorina. Dorina is from the De Baey breeding programme, which produced horses including Rembrandt, Rubinstein and Ahlerich.

“As soon as I saw him I loved him straight away and he’s already showing incredible paces with an enormous canter,” said Charlotte.

    The next Valegro?

The second is a black colt — yet to be named — by Valegro’s sire, Negro. This foal (pictured below) is one of twins from a single embryo flush from the Donnerhall/Rubinstein mare Tia Roma. His full-sister has been retained by the stud’s owner, Emma Blundell.MSJ Unnamed

“He is stunning and was born the morning that Blubs [Valegro] and I won the World Cup final, so hoping that’s a sign!” Charlotte added.

“Fingers crossed, with the right training, patience and love, they will continue to develop into super horses and perhaps follow in the footsteps of the incredible Blueberry.”

Charlotte and EmmaEmma (pictured left with Charlotte) said: “We are super excited to be breeding the foals of choice for the number 1 dressage rider and that she couldn’t choose between them, so decided to buy 2!

“We are delighted to be working with Charlotte and hope that we can create lots more champions in the future together.”

The stud has also sold young horses to Charlotte’s fellow British team members Michael Eilberg (who bought a foal, full-brother to Woodlander Dornroschen, last year) and Emile Faurie, so we could see a future British team all riding British-bred horses.
