UK equestrian sponsorship round-up


  • B&W Equine Vets

    The group of veterinary practices has become the title sponsor for the British Dressage South West (BD SW) region.

    They will be supporting BD SW at numerous events as part of the multi-year contract.

    “British Dressage South West have a long history of creating engaging and inclusive programmes for all its members which makes them an ideal associate for B&W Equine Vets,” said Ian Camm, managing director of B&W Equine Vets.

    “At B&W we know that caring for and competing your horse is a team effort at every level and we pride ourselves on being part of your team.”

    British Horse Feeds

    Julie Kelshaw will be supported by the company under its Fibre-Beet banner as she prepares to take part in a charity race this summer.

    The North Yorkshire-based business will be supporting Julie in the 2016 MacMillan Charity race which will take place at York Races on Saturday, 11 June.

    It is set to be broadcast on Channel 4 Racing.

    She has been riding out for Foulrice Park Racing and training with Patrick Holmes and Russ Garritty.

    “I am delighted to gain support for my entry into the world of racing from British Horse Feeds and the Fibre-Beet brand, it is all very exciting but scary at the same time,” said Julie.

    The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre

    Bedmax and Albion Saddlemakers join long-term supporter TopSpec to sponsor the British Throughbred Retraining Centre (TRC).

    This year marks the Lancashire-based centre’s 25th anniversary.

    “To have the support of three premium brands that will play such an important role in the care and retraining of our horses is fantastic and we are thrilled to have them as part of the team,” added TRC chief executive, Gillian Carlisle.

    Little Downham Horse Trials

    Childeric Saddles has been revealed as the new title sponsor of all three of Little Downham’s British Eventing fixtures in 2016.

    This year also mark’s the company’s fifth year as a sponsor of the events, which will run on 3-5 June, 23-24 July and 1-3 October.

    Protexin Equine Premium also returns for another season of sponsorship and will be running a BE90 and BE100 accumulator across the events, featuring a prize pot of £1,400.

    Bailey’s Horse Feeds will supporting the novice sections and Finer Stables will sponsor rosettes for competitors who are part of the #twittereventing social network who achieve a double clear.

    Under Armour

    The global sportswear and equipment company has teamed up with Godolphin to create a bespoke clothing range.

    Under Armour will now produce kit to be worn by jockeys, trainers and members of team Godolphin as they train and compete across the world.

    “As two prestigious global sporting brands, Godolphin and Under Armour are natural partners,” said John Ferguson, Godolphin’s chief executive officer and racing manager.

    “The vision and values of Godolphin directly mirror Under Armour’s brand mission to help all athletes perform at their best, through the relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence.

    “Together, we can take horseracing apparel to the next level with the ultimate aim of delivering a long-lasting impact for the benefit of the equine industry at large.”

    Alltech

    The animal nutrition specialist is continuing its support of World Horse Welfare.

    It has become involved in the charity’s “invisible horse” campaign and as part of it will directly fund the rehabilitation of one of World Horse Welfare’s rescued equines.

    Alltech is supporting the care of the colt, Tarzan, who was rescued as a severely underweight yearling from a field in Northumberland.

    “Alltech are thrilled to be able to offer support to Tarzan, it’s hard to believe anybody could be so cruel, but unfortunately this is the reality faced by charities such as World Horse Welfare on a daily basis,” said Alltech’s UK marketing manager, Isla Baker-Browne.

    Betfair

    The company has been announced as the sponsor of Racing Welfare’s Stable Staff Week, which runs from 27 June to 2 July.

    The event aims to highlight the skill and dedication of those who work with racehorses to followers and supporters of racing.

    The pinnacle of the week will be the Betfair Clock Tower Cup on Racing Welfare’s Raceday at Doncaster on 1 July.

    The charity race involves stable staff taking on rides of horses trained by their bosses, with the prize being a scholarship at the British Racing School or the Northern Racing College.

    Caviera Bedding

    Blenheim has welcomed Caviera Bedding back for a second year as official bedding supplier.

    The Doncaster-based company will supply each horse competing at the event, which runs from 8-11 September, with three bales of its premium product, Raviera Pro.

    This is pure chopped oilseed rape straw, which has been dust-extracted and sterilised.

    Nick Walker, director of Caviera Bedding, said becoming the official supplier last year was a “defining moment” for the company.

    “We were able to talk to riders at all levels, as well as the competitors who used our Raviera Pro at this fabulous event, and developed relationships with retailers and professional yards that we may not have otherwise encountered,” he said.

    “One such meeting was with Team Sommerville and we were delighted to announce them as Caviera brand ambassadors last year and for the foreseeable future.”
